Developing an LLVM backend for the KV3 Kalray VLIW core

Kalray is a semiconductor company. We design and produce a manycore architecture with 6-issue VLIW cores. We started writing a backend for our VLIW 3 years ago. This talk will describe our architecture and relate our experience in the development of its LLVM backend, including the challenges we faced, and a comparison between GCC and LLVM generated code on a few examples.
