The Data Inspection Language (DIL) expression evaluator has been fully implemented in LLDB now, and gives a very fast, lightweight alternative for evaluating simple expressions. In addition to basic variable lookup and dereferencing, DIL can handle type casting, arithmetic, logical expressions and assignment. It is up to 600x faster than LLDB's full expression evaluator, making it an excellent tool for assisting IDEs with data formatting and conditional breakpoints. In this talk we will present the capabilities and syntax of DIL and also review the various options and flags within LLDB that give precise control over turning on and off various aspects of DIL. In addition we will present measurements of DIL's performance, comparing it with LLDB's full expression evaluator.
