Abstract/s

1) SYCL/OpenCL and the LLVM AI ecosystem - Jeremy Bennett, Lukas Sommer
SYCL and OpenCL are extensions to respectively C++ and C to support programming of heterogeneous systems based on GPUs and other highly parallel hardware.  They are compiled using derivatives of the standard Clang/LLVM compiler.  These languages are increasingly proving central to bringing up AI systems, with SYCL implementations of many standard operations being added to PyTorch 2.4. Our starting point will be obtaining a common understanding of how SYCL and OpenCL act as the bridge between the AI world and the LLVM world. This round table will explore what work is needed within the LLVM ecosystem to better support and optimize the use of SYCL/OpenCL for AI systems.  We will explore what is needed to make LLVM more accessible to the wider AI infrastructure community.
