Brooks has worked on toolchains and compiler infrastructure for over 20 years, first volunteering on GCC as a mechanical-engineering graduate student, then working at CodeSourcery on toolchains and math libraries, and now at Google in the production C++ toolchain team. His primary interest is in compiler "externals" -- the interfaces between compilers and build systems that allow the latest and greatest features to be used in practice.
