Adding something new to LLVM is often daunting, especially when it comes to changing the IR – whether adding a new construct, adapting, or eliminating something. This talk aims to document what you need to consider when proposing a change, and looks at a few examples. We'll cover making sure your changes fit with the expressiveness of the IR, the needs of the community when considering a change, a checklist of technical matters to consider, and finally how to deploy into LLVM-IR.
